This particular job was a challenge for me. The reason is because this Toll Brothers homeowner in Reno NV had a slightly different view than I did. I always feel like doing curtains or draperies that go down to the floor. They liked the idea of covering their windows just past the bottom of the windows.
As you can see from the photos and video, the expanse of the wall of windows is very large. It was 312″ wide. That’s a big span of glass. We chose to use one drapery rod all the way across. The issue was deciding whether to go with curtains on the windows that went to the floor, or not.
As a drapery designer, I can give my opinions, but final choice always rests with the homeowner. I didn’t feel so strongly that I overrode their opinion. The choice the homeowner made was fine, but didn’t meet my personal choice. In this case, the couple got exactly what they wanted and they love the result.
We sourced the fabric from Newpoint Fabrics. The rods came from IronArt by Orion and even though the finish looks like stainless steel, it isn’t. It is a painted finish that costs less than the metalized finishes. This customer was price sensitive, so adjusted the finish to meet their cost needs.
