If you have angle top windows, you know how hard it can be to find window treatments or window coverings for them. This client in Lake Tahoe, near Reno Nevada, had a real issue with morning light pouring in through the angle top windows. They had already installed Hunter Douglas Pirouette Shades on their lower windows, but after a while, they realized that they weren’t getting enough rest.
They asked us to suggest products that would provide room darkening and provide a very luxurious look. After some consultation, we determined that draperies would be the best solution. So, how did we accomplish their goals?
The room darkening was pretty simple. We made custom draperies for their angle top windows that would block virtually all the light. Making angle top window treatments is actually pretty hard. To get the height right required a lot of extra work, but the fit was perfect.
The second part of their needs involved creating a very luxurious look. We chose a very beautiful fabric with some subtle movement, but it was very thin and lightweight. To give it a more full look, we added an interlining to add some richness to the look. The customer is extremely happy with both the look and the function of the drapes.
Angle Top windows are hard to cover, but this solution worked for this client. Other products that would have worked are shutters, cellular shades with custom applications or certain blinds. Truthfully, none of these would have provided the room darkening that the clients wanted, so this was the best choice for them.
