Window Treatments- Privacy, room darkening, filtered views, elegance…can they all be acquired in one window treatment? Absolutely! Sometimes it requires layering different products. In the case of this Wingfield Springs home in Sparks NV, we had to choose wisely.
This client had many practical needs to consider. They needed privacy from walkers behind their home. The room is used as a television room, so room darkening is needed. Since the surfaces in the room have a hard feel to them, the client wanted a softened look.
We suggested a layered treatment of specialized cellular shades and sheer curtains. The shades were sourced from Norman Window Fashions. They are the SmartFit feature of the Portrait Shade line. These windows are a European design, where they swing out into the room as well as tilting out into the room. As a result, we needed to attach the shades to the window at the top and bottom. This allows the shade to remain attached as the window is functioned into any of its positions.
The sheers are fairly straight forward. But, they provide a great deal of function. When the shades are completely stacked, the client gets almost complete privacy by closing the sheers. If a walker were to look toward the house, they would just see the softness of the curtain fabric. There is enough fabric there to hide the interior of the house from anyone outside.
