This blog post is going to discuss how shades choices need to be made to allow for the best functional use of your window coverings. Specifically how a dog can enjoy the choices you make while you still get the most benefits from the product you choose.
On this job we selected a banded shade from Century Shades and Blind, Inc called the Array shade. It was selected because it provides a number of features.
- Complete privacy when the vanes are closed
- Sheer view to the outside when the shades vanes are arranged in the banded configuration
- Completely out of the way when rolled up into the headrail.
There are other window coverings that cover a window with privacy and sheer type looks, but the banded shades have one feature that can be beneficial. The ability to have the sheer feature at any point of the shade’s travel up and down.
Differences in Shades
This is a benefit over the typical sheer shade products, like the Hunter Douglas Silhouette or the Hunter Douglas Pirouette. With both of these types of shades, the only time that the shade can open into it’s sheer position is when the shading is in the ALL THE WAY down position. Which brings us back to the doggie in question at the beginning of our discussion.
The client knew that the dog liked to look out the window. Because this is a fabric shade, it can get dirty if the dog is placing it’s nose or paws on the shading. Therefore, the Banded shade was a good choice because it enables the client to leave the shades part way up for the dog. At the same time, they are able to see out, utilizing the sheer feature of the product.
Had they used the Silhouette or Pirouette versions of a sheer shading, this would not have been possible. Please watch the attached videos so you can see what I mean. This blog has been a fun discussion to see how the window treatments you select are individually designed for each of our clients.
