Blackout Shades Overview
If you need your room to be dark for sleeping or watching media, you will want to read this blog and look at one great choice of blackout shades shown in the attached video. I just mentioned the two primary reasons why people pick blackout shades.
- Sleeping. If you are like me, you need the room to be very dark. Blackout shades will help you get good rest.
- Media. If you are very into your TV, movies, sports or gaming, then you may want to avoid any light hitting the screen you are watching. A great room darkening shade will assist you in that.
Please watch the attached video and see a great example of how a blackout shade can provide what you need.
There are a lot of products that provide room darkening, but if you want it completely dark, then those choices are narrowed down significantly. The video showed us my personal choice for the best blackout shade. It is the Hunter Douglas Duette Honeycomb Shading with the LightLock feature. There has been a lot of engineering that has gone into the LightLock product. It has light blocking gaskets on the outsides of the trim pieces to stop light. It also has some cool features as part of the “U” channels that hold the shade inside of it. One of those features is the design of the inside of that channel.
Features of LightLock
In the channel on the sides and bottom of the shading you will see that the color of that feature is black. Black is the best color at absorbing light rather than reflecting it. Therefore, the light is dampened significantly. Another great feature of these blackout shades is the angles of the grooves in the side channels. They are completely engineered to make sure that any reflections of light get trapped inside the channel instead of jumping into your eyes. I’m blown away by how dark these are.
Like all products out there, one of the keys to it being the right choice for you is making sure that the installation is done in a way that maximizes the efficiency of the product. We also want to make sure that steps are not shortcutted causing less than effective room darkening out of your new blackout shades. This is why our clients are happy with our services, because we make sure that everything is done as perfectly as possible.
