We started our business in 1993, so as we approach our 20th anniversary in a few months, there is little that we see that we haven’t experienced before. Last week, though, I had something new happen.
We work out of a home office. We take care to make sure that the internet searches don’t show our home address, but one must have slipped through.

I guess that one of the search engines has more information than I had hoped. So, there I was, doing paperwork in the house, with my truck parked in the driveway, when there came a knock at the door. I opened the door to a nice european couple. I asked them how I could help them, when they said, “We want to buy some curtains”. I was blown away. This has never happened before. I am a shop at home service. I go to my clients. They NEVER come to me. OK, clearly, that isn’t true. They RARELY come to me.
I tried to collect myself, but I was laughing at the improbability of having these people show up at my door. I eventually invited them in and gave them a consultation for what they will need for their lodge in Mammoth. I don’t know where this job will end up, but it was an eye opener about how the business world has changed over the last 20 years.
