Shutters for doors have always been a bit of a challenge. The Norman Window Fashions BiFold 180 has made certain applications much easier. The shutter in the video was located at the showroom for Norman Window Fashions in southern California, but the applications are obvious.
There are a couple of great features to the video above. First of all, the track system. When you do a typical bi-fold track, the panels end up sticking out into the room. With Norman Window Fashions‘ patented Bi-Fold 180 shutters, the panels can fold off to the wall. So, if you have room to stack the panels to the side of your patio door or slider, then this can be a good option.
Notice the look of the side frame on the left side. Because the panels have to stack flush to the wall, the frame is basically non-existent. Some people may like this look, and others may feel that it is unfinished. This is a personal choice. But the facts and the visuals may help you decide.
The pull ring on the left side of this page is another nice feature when you have a track system. It makes opening the shutters much easier and quicker. Otherwise, you have have to open louvers to reach inside the panels.
Keep in mind that you can only fold 2 doors off to the side. Many bi-fold shutter applications call for more than 2 panels to go one direction. If you want 3, 4 or more panels to all go off to one side, the bi-fold 180 will not work in your application. This is why we make these posts. In order to make sure that you are doing your window treatments correctly, we have to consider all the options. Will the BiFold 180 work for your window or door? A consultation will make sure that the right choice is made.
