Shutters Can Be Double Hung
What circumstance would you want a double hung shutter for? This job, which was done at the Ryder Homes project in Sparks NV was the perfect solution for the window we covered. Let’s break it down and see some of the reasons.
If you look at the picture on the side, you will see that there are two relevant factors as to why a double hung shutter was selected. In the distance, you can see the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains. In other words, the view is something you want to maximize. The second point is that down below, you can see the street. This is important because the room you are looking at is a bathroom. Most of us prefer privacy over showing ourselves off to our neighbors!!
Some Other Factors
We clearly could have done a top down / bottom up shade to provide the same functional solution, but there were other factors in place. One thing is that the front of the house has shutters in all of those windows. Based on that, we felt like shutters across all of the front windows would provide a better look to the curbside view.
Also, if you look at the next photo, you will see the color of the tiles in the bathroom. There is a great organic factor in the materials and a real wood shutter made a lot of sense when stained in an appropriate color. But again, it is the view that really moved us to choose a double hung shutter for this window.
The bottom line on every job we do is that we work closely with the owner of the home to decide what the best choices are for their windows.
