The Hunter Douglas Vertiglide is available in the Duette and Applause lines. There have been many versions, but the weak point in the durability of the product is in the tension cord. The cord has a tendency to slip out of tension. When this happens, we get a call asking how to fix the “hanging cord”. The posted video will show just how easily fixed it is.
This is the most common adjustment on a Vertiglide, but there are other issues that come up. The plastic part that you see my finger on in the video can break. Hunter Douglas now ships extra pieces with the original order, so you can retie the knot if the piece breaks.
The best, or worst, or funniest story I’ve experienced with the Vertiglide product was from a long time ago. I got a call from the customer who had a very large dog. There were thunderstorms in the area and the dog got scared and ran completely through the screen door and the Duette Vertiglide. When the dog ran into the shade, it pulled almost all of the carriers out of the fabric. Thankfully, there was a happy end to the story. We were able to re-install the carriers back on to the Duette fabric and everyone lived happily every after.
