Honeycomb Shades for Large Windows
If you have a large window, you are probably reading this blog to find out which products will best work for you. We are often asked if we can do cordless cellular shades for large windows. Thankfully, the answer is a resounding, YES. We provide products for our clients from a variety of companies and they all have different specifications as to how big their various mechanisms will go.
We shot this video to show you the Norman Window Fashions Portrait Cellular program. Their company provides the largest cordless cellular shades for large windows on the market. Currently, as you can see on the chart below, they can cover a window that is ten feet by ten feet. That is pretty amazing. And, it’s not just that they CAN do it, it is that the product works really well. It isn’t jerky or heavy at all. Please watch the video, and then we will discuss a couple of additional points.
Some Details of Cordless Honeycomb Shades
The information so far has been about “bottom up” shades, which means the type that only stack at the top of the window. But, since so many of our clients like “top down/bottom up” shades, we should address some of those details.
The keys to figuring out how big a shade can be is based on two determining factors. One is the actual width and height of the window. Again, using the chart, you can see that the maximum width and heights have limitations. The second way that has limitations has to do with the overall square footage.
Now in the case of Norman Window Fashions Portrait Cellular shades, the two factors are within one another. The maximum size and the maximum square footage are completely equal. But, with other companies, the size limitations often conflict with the square footage. For example you can have widths and heights that fall within the tolerances, but when you determine the square footage, you realize that the shade can’t be made at that size.
This means that the charts become a critical factor in figuring out the best choices. Sometimes we have to select manufacturers of Cordless Cellular Shades For Large Windows based on their ability to make shades that will function in your windows.
Other Factors For Choosing Window Coverings
We write these blogs and it just opens up more concerns. One obvious one is that if your window is 10 feet tall, the chances of you being able to reach the top are minuscule. So, we’d have to take that into consideration. And, we do have solutions, but those methods are specifically designed for your personal interests. Though I will be showing one such solution in the near future. Extension wands- Keep your eyes out for that one.
