Motorized Roman Shades
Motorized roman shades have been a very high end proposition in recent years. But, due to technology changes it is much more possible for homeowners. Because of the weight of the shades, there weren’t a lot of motors that could lift them, unless they were wired to power.
But, things have changed somewhat. Battery operated motorized roman shades have been designed now to be able to lift these shades. This video shows one such installation that we completed recently.
Here is what we had to say about this installation of motorized roman shades on our YouTube channel:
It is possible to use battery powered motors to do roman shades. This video shows how we designed custom window treatments for our clients in Reno NV. They wanted their room to be darker for sleeping, but they still liked the Allure Shades by Lafayette that were installed in the windows. They called us to help them add an additional layer.
At first they wanted draperies, but after looking at the overall design of the room, we agreed that roman shades would be a better choice for them. This video shows custom roman shades made with the Somfy R28 motor with battery packs.
One thing to consider is the decibel level of the motors. They were fine with the volume of the motors, but it was something we definitely considered. They now have the function they need for sleep with a well coordinated look for their master bedroom in Reno NV.
One thing you will notice in our commentary about motorized roman shades has to do with the volume of the motors. As you can hear in the video, the Somfy R28 motors are not silent. There are other options which are definitely more quiet, but due to various considerations, this client felt like these were the best motors for their situation. If we design for your home in Reno or Tahoe, we will consult with you to make sure you understand all the factors. That way, you can make the right decision for your motorized roman shades or other window treatments.
