The PowerWand is a great choice for people that are looking for motorized window coverings, but sometimes the costs can be prohibitive. In this blog we are discussing wand type versions. This particular video shows you the PowerWand motor by Alta Window Fashions. It is part of the Simplicity Motor System. If you go with the traditional type motor, the costs are a bit more. But, the standard Simplicity Motors have far more options, like remote control operation and WiFi based App controls.
The PowerWand allows for very simple controls at a great price. When I say simple controls this means that there are only so many things you can do.
PowerWand Use Explained
The Simplicity PowerWand by Alta Window Fashions is a great modern system. It uses the rechargeable battery system that is the latest trend in automated battery operated systems. The charger for the PowerWand plugs into the backside of the control portion of the wand at the bottom of the device. The charge is designed to last about a year, dependent on how often you use the shade and how much lifting is required.
The operation is very simple. You press the upper button on the PowerWand and the shade goes up. Simple. You press the down button and the shade lowers. You will have to make sure that your limits have been set to determine how high or low the shades go. If you purchase from Kempler Design, we do this at the time of installation. There is also a center button. That button has two main functions. 1. It is a stop button. If you press it while the shade is moving, the shade will stop at that location. If the shade is stopped and you press the center button the shade will immediately go to the pre-determined “favorite position”.
One other factor you need to know is that there are two settings for PowerWand usage. One is standard use and one is incremental use. This means that if you press an up or down button in the standard setting, the shade will go all the way to the top or bottom immediately.
If it is in incremental mode, then the shade will move only in very small jumps as it allows you to make micro adjustments. The video above shows how this works. If you have it in incremental mode and want to make the shade go without small movements, just press the button you wish to use for 2+ seconds and the shade will bypass the incremental setting. The next time you use it, it will be back in incremental mode.
I hope this was helpful. This product, the PowerWand by Alta is a great choice for lots of windows and shades. But make sure it is right for your needs. Thanks for reading our blog.
