Why Should I Do A Layered Window Treatment?
Layered window treatments are primarily done for function. Today’s blog is going to talk about draperies paired with a top down/bottom up Hunter Douglas Applause shade on a bed room window. As is shown in the video, if you didn’t have a layered treatment, you’d be sacrificing either natural light or privacy. But with a layered window treatment, you can have both as you need it.
I could talk about the technical aspects of layered window coverings, but the video pretty much lays it all out effectively. The bottom line is about laying out all of the functional needs that you desire. Draperies have been made for years as layered treatments and they are still a great choice to bring fashion into a space. They are not the only option though. If you have read our blog before, you’ve seen how we discuss “hybrid shades” all the time. These are fabricated window coverings that offer multiple functional needs in one combined product.
What is a Hybrid Shade?
Hybrid shades like the Hunter Douglas product line with “DuoLite” or other multi purpose products like the Norman “Smart Drape” allow for multiple features out of the same product. For example, they allow for a completely open window, a sheer view to the outside or as room darkening ability. These new versions are very slick and attractive, but sometimes you need more of a sense of style. If you look at the photos of this job, you can see how well the drapery rod and the fabrics “Pop” the look of the room. Usually, only custom fabrics can accomplish this look of a layered window treatment with that level of a designer look.
As I almost always say, “Is this the right solution for you?” It might be, but it is better to have us assist you in your project. We will spend time helping you make the perfect choice for your home.
