What is Happening For Hunter Douglas Window Coverings?
We have been talking about some of the things that are happening in the window covering world for a few months now. I will make this very simple. The Consumer Protection Safety Commission is trying to get this industry to conform to its standards as far as safety is concerned. They are taking very seriously the danger that can come from window covering cords. As a result, they have established mandates for child safe blinds that they are trying to get officially set for the manufacturers of window coverings in America.
There is a lawsuit against the CPSC from the Window Coverings Manufacturers Association. They are trying to get the regulations established for things that they think are more reasonable. The point that I’m making for this blog is that Hunter Douglas is doing something really amazing, in my opinion. Instead of waiting until things are forced upon them by governmental agencies, they have done things on their own. Here is what they chose to do. According to a letter that went to dealers in April 2023, they have decided to eliminate many of the products that the CPSC found to be dangerous.
What Specific Changes Are Coming
Please watch this video and other videos that we will be posting in the near future with even more details. The bottom line is that “Cordlocks and Continuous Cord Loops” are being eliminated from the products that Hunter Douglas offers. Due to the fact that some regulations will be coming soon, they decided to just work out the best options for child safe blinds for their clients before they are made to do it.
We will be doing a complete coverage of the overall changes that are coming within about a month. Please subscribe to our YouTube channel so you can get those updates as they come out. As I started out with, I’m very happy to see that Hunter Douglas is being assertive in making sure that they are prepared for what the CPSC is about to drop on them. The way they are doing it is by taking an industry lead. This looks good for them. I can see them getting good press results from this. Anyway, I just wanted to share this information as soon as I received it. I hope you choose to work with companies like Hunter Douglas and Kempler Design.
