Should I Hire an Expert?

Hire an expert to get the right window coverings for your project. Though this blog will show an amazing solution for this home at Lake Tahoe, we will talk less about the products used in the solution and more about how important it is to work with a true professional.

Amazing Set of Windows

As you can see from the photo on the left, there are a few challenges for this home. There are 4 angle top windows above a huge 3 panel slider door. What’s more, is that the slider below has beams that infringe on the access to the mounting area above the right side of the slider door.

Now, if the things I just typed don’t make much sense to you, then that is exactly why you should hire an expert window treatment specialist. There are so many incredibly challenging factors on this job and even some that we didn’t anticipate. Let me give you a couple of examples.

What Challenges Did We Face Here?

I am the designer and installer at Kempler Design and also a window fashions expert. That means that I can typically see all of the issues I may face on a job. Every once in a while I get smacked by something I didn’t foresee. At the installation I ran into a completely different construction technique that the builder used. Typically, these homes are built with wood framing, but this one was built by a commercial builder and they used metal framing. Was it easy to resolve? Nope! Did I resolve it? Yep! So, that is just one example of why you should hire an expert.

The other serious challenge was about the slider. You probably thought that the issue was the angle top windows above the slider. But, we do those all the time and that is very simple for us. The real issue was the bottom set of windows. There were so many factors that made it a challenge. One side had to be mounted to the wall. The other side needed to be mounted to the ceiling. One side was about 3” taller than the other side. And here’s a doozy.

If you check out the Hunter Douglas technical data on their Vertiglide with motorization, you will notice that they don’t offer the split draw feature, especially the way this one is laid out. Because I have worked so closely with these product lines, I know them well enough to make certain things work, even though the technical data tells you that you can’t do it. Another reason to hire an expert window covering dealer.

There were so many other things that came up in this job that required creativity and functionality on our part that the client was happy to have used our services. If you would like this level of service, we would love to talk with you and determine if we are a good fit. We are doing work all over the country based on people’s happiness with how we work with them. I look forward to speaking with you to discuss your project. Thank you for reading our blog.
