My friend, Roger Magalhaes, owner of Shades IN Place, in Franklin, MA posted this video last week. I haven’t videoed any of the jobs I’ve done with the Hunter Douglas Platinum App, so when he did his, I thought I’d piggyback on his creativity. The app is pretty amazing. You can do so many things with it and it’s really simple. If you want a complete breakdown of everything it does, go to the Hunter Douglas page that is linked here.
One of the things that I like about the app is the ability to set “Scenes”. This is the process of having the window coverings, whether they be blinds or shades, open, tilt or close at any given scenario or time. For example, I recently helped a client in Truckee to set her scenes. As well as setting a “Wake Up” and a “Sleep” setting, which are based on a specific time of day, I also set up a “Shower” scene, so she can take a shower at any time and press one button which will control specific shades for that task.
The app is still relatively new, so even though it’s already amazing, it’s getting even better with some of the updates that are coming soon. It will be offering time of year adjustments, so if you adjust your window coverings based on the location of the sun, the app will be able to make those adjustments for you. You will not need new equipment when this update comes as all you will have to do is press “update app” in your app store and you are good to go. This is truly the first whole house app that is set for the future of the window coverings industry. You can have it now!
