If you are looking for parts for your blinds or shades, or any other type of window covering, it can be frustrating. Simply said, it’s in your best interest to contact the company that you purchased said products from. But if you are reading this, you probably don’t have that option. The company you ordered from is gone, you moved into a house that already had its window coverings or you just don’t want to deal with the people that installed your blinds. What do you do? I’ve been in the business for over 20 years, and I still get frustrated with this situation. Not only are there so many different manufacturers and so many different products that they make, you also have the challenge that these same manufacturers change their components so often. So, a valance clip, for example, from a 2004 horizontal blind might be completely different from a 2003 model. Aughhhhhh! Most places, including my company, don’t stock parts for all these different companies. It’s the job for a specialty company, like BlindParts.com. They have most, but not all, parts for the most common window coverings. If you have Hunter Douglas window coverings, they do have a website that links to their customer service department. If you go there, you may well end up confused, because they want a lot of detail that you may not have. Sometimes, we get phone calls or emails with pictures of their window coverings and we help them identify things. In the end, we are happy to help people to fix their products. In the near future, I will talk about specific ways to fix common blind problems.
