Draperies Are Popular Again
Just like fashion, we sometimes see repetitions in styles, though they have subtle or major adjustments. One of the things that has been a window treatment trend for the last few years has been square drapery rods. Here is a video of a job we did at Lake Tahoe using this type of a rod. The style of the home has a huge impact as to the style of the rod itself. We will talk about that shortly.
When you look at the picture that is attached to the page, you will see a close up of the square drapery rod. It is a very sleek design that has a great impact as to the design in the space. Because this home has a cabin style, they needed to decide whether to make the draperies be functional only or to have them add to the design of the home. Obviously, they chose to make the drapery have impact on the look that they see in this space.
Adding My Opinion
Here is what I am sensing about drapery design and window treatment trends. I have two thoughts that
I’d to share. The first is that we are heading toward the traditional looks again. These would include lots of curves and folds. Take a look at this valance that we recently hung for a client. These types of top treatments are making a comeback. But because the drapery job was in Tahoe, it will almost always keep the sleek casual look instead of the formal look.
The other thing that I want to add is about the current window treatment trends of the housing industry. The builders are slowing down as of late 2023. People are buying fewer homes as a result of rising interest rates. Because of these trends, people tend to move from doing simple window coverings, like roller shades and cellular shades to doing more luxurious types of window treatments.
Though, those whom we work with typically, people with custom homes or high end residential houses, like to work with window fashions experts like us. They realize that they get comfort from being in their personal space, so they tend to choose very specialty products that give them happiness. These are just words, but when we do custom window treatments for our clients, it is so fun to see the joy on their faces when we provide them exactly what they desire.
