How to Use Hunter Douglas SoftTouch Wands
First of all, you will notice the word “Wands”. The Hunter Douglas SoftTouch Motorization uses wands to control your window treatments. Unlike the PowerView Motorization which uses radio frequencies to control the blinds, shades, shutters or drapes, the SoftTouch version requires you to stand at the window you are operating. It also does not allow for automation, which is available in the PowerView version.
I am stating facts here. I am not establishing which is the right choice for your windows. I want you to know which might be the right selection for your window coverings.
Directions for SoftTouch
Please watch the attached video. I feel that watching it in action is a superior way to learn how to use the SoftTouch Wand by Hunter Douglas. So, after watching it, you see that the wand is required for all actions. A gentle tug down will lower the shade to the bottom position. A second tug down will open the shade to the sheer or view-through position. If you tug down again, nothing will happen. It requires an up tug, or push-up.
If you push the wand up, it will go to the fully closed position first and then with a second push-up, it will go to the top limit position.
SoftTouch Offers Safety For a Good Price
The Hunter Douglas SoftTouch Motorized controls are about half the price of the PowerView version. But, one of the reasons that my customers order this product is for safety. And to be honest, for appearances too. OK, and convenience. Hmm, and other reasons as well. But if you look at the photo you will see the wand in my hand. It takes a strong pull to remove the wand because the magnet that holds it is pretty grippy. It reconnects perfectly when the batteries get anywhere close to touching when putting it back on.
People like that the wand is available in various lengths. They can keep it super high, so their little kids can’t reach it, also, it is just a wand and has no cords or strings that can cause strangulation. Also, it is nice when the entire home is using Motorization, but they don’t want their guests or young children becoming frustrated trying to learn how to use a remote control or app for the use of their window coverings.
As you can see, this is a nice and simple product that Hunter Douglas offers. Other companies have similar wands on their products, but the Hunter Douglas version is very simple to use and a popular choice from our clientele. Thanks for reading our blog.
