Shaped Window Shutters- Round
A Round Window cause serious head scratching for lots of homeowners. This blog will discuss a circular window that we covered in a community in Reno NV. In Caughlin Ranch, some of the homes there have at least one round window that needs covering.
Shutters are one of the best choices for any shaped window. They are engineered in a way that allows for the beauty of the shape to continue while offering the functionality of opening or closing as desired. As you look at the photos and video of this product, you will see how it does exactly that.
Round Shutter Options
We have already basically established that shutters are probably your best choice for a round window, but let me explain some of the details that will make a difference. One choice for any round top shutter is whether to do a sunburst or a horizontal louver. On the left, you will see a Sunburst Shutter. These can be done for round windows as well, but they require a rail that goes across the whole panel. This provides the structural support that the shutter would need.
This client also could have ordered a square shutter to completely cover the opening, but it would have lost the desired architectural look of the round window. Another factor which was very important to the client was to have the shutter not project too much into the room. That is why if you look at the upper photos, you will notice that the shutter sits completed inside the opening.
The last option has to do with the tilt bar. Norman Window Fashions, whom we used for this job mandates tilt bars on their round window shutters. We placed the tilt bar on the back of the louvers so that the rest of the house would match the look when the shutters are all in the closed position. Are there other factors we considered? Yes, but for now, this gives you a basic concept of how this product will work if you have a round window to cover. Thanks for viewing our blog and YouTube video.
