What Kinds of Things Matter For Custom Drapes?
If you are looking to do custom drapes, there are many considerations that you should think about. In this blog and attached video we briefly look at a recent job that we completed in Lake Tahoe. There were some considerations that we acted upon to make sure that the desires of our client were given attention. Please watch the video if you wish to see the factors of custom drapes that we are discussing.
2 Considerations For Custom Draperies
There are many things in this type of drapery that are of concern, but we are going to discuss two of them.
- Custom Drapery Hardware – As was mentioned in the video, when doing grommet top curtains, the projection to the back of the rod is usually the same as the projection to the front of the rod. This can cause the fabric to hit the wall or the layered window treatment that is behind the drapery. By designing and fabricating the correct “return size” of the brackets, we are able to have clearance that allows the curtains to move effortlessly from side to side.
- Custom Curtain Fabrication – Also in the video, I show you the outside of the custom drapes. The return length of the curtains was designed and fabricated to make sure that the fabric at the outsides came all the way to the wall. This gives a better overall look to the window treatments, but it also has functional benefits. This client wanted to insulate, due to poor quality windows in their condo complex and also wanted to block more noise from outside their unit.
There are many other things that go into these choices, but we wanted to focus on just a couple of them for this blog post. The client was thrilled with the look and functionality of what we created with them on this Tahoe project.
