This is a real world example of the last blog we posted about shutters for wide windows. That video was shot at the Norman Window Fashions showroom, but this is the real deal in the Reno / Lake Tahoe area.
Shutters For Wide Windows
Why would you put a single panel shutter on a wide window? There are a couple of reasons that I’d suggest it. For a more modern design, the cleanness of the look is superior to having multiple panels on that window. The second reason has to do with the view.
The side piece of the shutters for wide windows is called a “stile”. It holds the louvers in place. The average thickness of this piece of material is about 2”. So, when you put two stiles together, you end up with over 4” of loss of view at the center of the window. Most people prefer the openness that having only 1 panel provides them. The center of the window is not blocked by any obstructions.
Those are two reasons why we suggest the Ultra Shutters by Norman Window Fashions to our clients. They are a great shutter for wide windows.
One Extra Reason
The hidden hinges on this product offer two great features. The first is that it makes the lines very clean with no part of the hinge showing. The second is the stability of the hinge, which makes it possible to hold up the weight and leverage of the wide shutters without any issues.
So, there you go. I hope this provided some good information for you on how to do shutters on wide windows.
