Wide windows plus special functions like top down / bottom up can cause issues. There have to be some choices made as to what is more important to you. In this blog I will give you a bit of understanding into the process of selection of custom window treatments.

So, there are so many considerations when selecting these shades. Type of material, lift mechanism, size of window, amount of light blocking. It never ends. Usually, when I’m with a client, I spend a significant amount of time in the reference guide to make sure that I’m not offering something that can’t be manufactured.

Considerations on This Job

So, they put as their priority number one, the cordless mechanism. This causes some issues, because the maximum width for a wide window top down / bottom up shade with the LiteRise mechanism is about 96”. That is great for a window narrower than that. In this case, remember the window is 144” wide. Did the client have options?

Yes, they could have changed to two other manual lift mechanisms and had one solid shade across, but the cordless option overruled it.

Secondly, they wanted the ability to open the shades on the side separately from the center. So, when we put these two options together, the customer was thrilled with how the job turned out on this wide window top down / bottom up shade. This just highlights the takeaway, that consultations are critical to a happy client.
