Silhouette Arch Top
Shaped windows are the bane of homeowners. They add a lot to the architectural look of the home, but if you have to cover them, yikes! As you can imagine, to add any window covering as a shape provides some challenges.
In this case, the customer in Reno NV had already installed Hunter Douglas Silhouette shades. They had been advised that the sun pouring through the window in the early morning would be both damaging and irritating.
Installation Challenges
For the customer, ordering a Hunter Douglas Silhouette Arch Top is the same as ordering a rectangular shade. But, for the designer and installer, like me, it adds some challenging aspects. The most important step in ordering a Silhouette Arch Top is making an accurate template of the window opening.
Secondly, the installation is not like other window treatments. It requires a delicate hand due to the Silhouette Arch Top being an almost fragile material. Since the shading is held in place by clips, much care needs to be taken to assure that the material is unmanaged and accurately placed in the window.
One side note. You will notice in the video about the Silhouette Arch Top window covering that I say “They used to say”. I said this in relation to the UV protection and insulation factors of the Silhouette Shade. Hunter Douglas doesn’t publish the technical numbers anymore, probably due to legal reasons and testing costs, but their old numbers help us determine the benefit to you.
