Soft Touch Motorization Wands by Hunter Douglas are a good option for certain circumstances. In this case you can see it at work on Silhouette shades at a Lake Tahoe residence.
SoftTouch Motorization
The one thing that I’d like to focus on with this blog is the detachable wand. When you watch the video, you will notice how I pull the wand off of its magnetic connection. This is done because the lever that the wand attaches to is not indestructible. The engineers of the SoftTouch Motorization decided to not risk bent lever arms. It was decided to use a magnet that has a disconnect factor that is less than the stress necessary to bend the lever. Smart thinking.
Reconnecting it is as easy as it looks. Just get the two ends of the SoftTouch wands anywhere close to one another and they reconnect. The magnets are pretty strong, but a strong pull outside of the parameters will remove the wand from its connection.
Child Safety and Window Coverings
So, why would you choose this type of Motorization? One of the main reasons is child safety. Cords are soon to be completely gone from new window coverings. As you know, motorization is the “new thing” in window treatments. With this type of control, your children and pets will be safe. You may not want the PowerView motorized window coverings in your children’s rooms, but you want them safe. This might be the right option for you.
As with all types of technical consultations, I can’t provide you accurate information for your windows until I see them. So, this is just an overview to help you get closer to the right choice.
