Motorized shades that are manually operated. Wait…what??
Is it just me, or does that sound contradictory? We are so used to the whole remote control thing that the idea of walking over to our shades or blinds to control them seems a bit “old school”. So, why would someone want the SoftTouch Motorization system from Hunter Douglas? Let’s consider some reasons.
Sometimes we want the automation without the complication. For example, let’s say you have children, and you don’t want to give them remote controls. Or, maybe you have home automation, but you don’t want your guests on the wi-fi system. Maybe you really like the idea of motorized shades, but your budget is a bit more limited. The SoftTouch motorization might be the perfect solution for you.
My personal viewpoint is that being able to program your shadings or window coverings is more of a long term solution, but there is a place for SoftTouch. We do the Hunter Douglas PowerView system more often than the SoftTouch in the Reno and Tahoe markets, but there have been quite a few jobs that the SoftTouch has been the perfect solution for them. How do you know which is right for you? Realistically, you will need a consultation. Find a window fashions expert who can help you. In Reno, why not call Kempler Design? :)
