Roller Shade Options
Roller Shades are a very popular style right now in the window coverings market. As with most custom products, there are a myriad of options available. This blog post discusses the roll on a roller shade.
There are two ways that a roller shade can roll on to the top tube. The traditional way is to have it roll up the back of the shade and over the top. Another way to do it is the reverse of that. A reverse roll shade rolls up the front of the shade and over the top toward the back. There are different reasons why a client might choose to do one versus the other.
Reverse Roll Roller Shade
In this case, as we mentioned in the video, this client wanted no valance at all. With just the roller shade in the window they wanted to limit the lines created at the window. If they had done their roller shade with the regular roll, the line at the base of the tube would always be visible. By using the reverse roll, we were able to hide it.
The other major reason on this job had to do with the configuration of the windows. This client has casement windows. This can cause some issues with the crank at the bottom interfering with the function of the bottom rail of the roller shade. We had a choice to make. If we had ordered a regular roll roller shade, we could have moved it toward the room. Think about the consequences though. The roll would be partially in the room at all times. This would have affected the cleanness of the look of the installation.
There is no one right way to design a client’s roller shades. All factors have to be taken into consideration. For this client, he is super happy with the end result.
