Curved drapery rods can be used for functional and design reasons. This video shows a commercial application for a curved drapery rod. This rod was for a studio that is being used for video production. They needed sound absorption, solid color backdrop and the ability to open and close them effortlessly.
The choice of fabric was a big part of the selection, but the most challenging part are the curved drapery rods. We sourced them from Kirsch Drapery Hardware. When you do a curved drapery rod, Kirsch makes them at their factory in one piece. Shipping can be an issue because they crate the shipment and send it by trucking line. So, the rod is not that expensive, but the shipping can be prohibitive.
This curved drapery rod was very simple and utilitarian, but some of the rods we carry are extremely decorative. They can be made from various wrought iron materials and finished to custom specifications. Curved drapery rods can be made to fit curved walls, corners or other specialty shapes. For example, you can actually get rods made to fit an arch top window. When you do custom, almost anything is doable.
