New Window Coverings
The Array Shade by Century Blinds is a new entry to the Reno market. It is also available from other manufacturers, but for this blog and video we will examine this option.
Though the Array, banded shade, does a lot in terms of function, it is basically a modified roller shade. The material is attached to the back of the top cassette. It then falls with gravity to the bottom of the shade where a bottom rail sits. The bottom rail has a built in axle that the material rolls over as it heads back up to the top of the shade. If you were to look from the side, it would look like a very narrow “U”. The bottom rail would be at the bottom of the “U”.
When you watch the video of these new window coverings, you will notice that there is a lot of movement. But, in reality, only the front part of the shade is moving.
There are a few things to know about these new window coverings. For example, when the shade is in its lowest “view-through” position, there is a gap of 2-4″ from the bottom rail to the window sill. So, if you are extremely privacy conscious or insulation conscious, you may have an issue with these Array shades. Also, the sheers are fairly view blocking. You CAN see through the sheer fabrics, but it is not a great view. I would say that it’s a frosted look. Choice of fabric will make a difference too, because they have different opacities and also different sizes of vane.
All of these factors will make a difference as to which fabric or style is best for you. A consultation will help you decide which is best for you.
