A custom valance can make a big difference in the look of your custom window coverings. Please read the following quote, taken from our YouTube channel which explains the video:
This video shows how a custom valance can meet the design needs of a client better than the standard valances that manufacturers offer. In this case, Kempler Design ( https://www.kemplerdesign.com ) suggested a flat real wood valance as a better design choice. The shade was sourced from Hunter Douglas Window Fashions. It is the Duette Architella Elan shade in the VertiGlide format. They offer two valance choices. One is a small faced aluminum with a soft curve. The other is a more traditional routed face with lots of shape. This client was offered the opportunity to design their window treatments to blend with the decor of the home. We chose the Century Shade and Blind Valance. It is normally wrapped in fabric, but in this case, we chose unfinished. The client was willing to stain the wood to match their color in the home. In my opinion, this was the best choice for the overall look of the home. All options need to be considered if you want the best look and function in your home.
The last sentence is the key for me. If you want custom window treatments, every part of the look needs to be addressed. In this case, the custom valance makes the look for this Tahoe cabin.
Looking at this photo versus looking at the video capture above, you can see the large difference between the standard valance from Hunter Douglas and the custom valance made of wood that we selected with the client.
