When it comes to a lift system for window coverings, the manufacturers are all in competition. Other than motorization, they are all trying to make the lifting and lowering easier. Motors are still the best way to lift, in my opinion, but here is a new option.
SmartRelease- Lift System
Norman Window Fashions recently introduced the SmartRelease lift system for a number of their products. Watch the video to see it in action. So, like the Hunter Douglas, UltraGlide 2- “Click and Walk Away” system, this lift system makes it easy to lower your shades. All you do is gently tug the back part of the cord, and the shade lowers itself to the bottom of the window. Raising the roller shade is just like any other manual system. You pull the front part of the cord until the shade reaches the top.
As the shade comes to the top, the internal spring is building tension. So, when you release it, it controls the speed of descent. What is the big benefit of this type of system? In my opinion, the biggest benefit is when lowering your shades. Instead of spending 5 to 10 seconds lowering a shade, you spend 1 second. So, if you have a whole house full of shades, this lift system saves you a couple of minutes a day.
Is this a good choice for you? It’s a great question that can be answered in your personal consultation. Every home has its own needs and there are too many options to come up with a definitive answer here.
