Motorized Shutters- Reno NV is one of the fastest growing populations in America. Shutters are one of the hottest segments of window treatments. When you put the two together, you end up with a LOT of shutters in Reno NV. It is not uncommon for a client to want shutters in their entire house. But this can pose some problems.
Sometimes, it can be hard to reach the shutters to make adjustments for light control, privacy or insulation. Motorized shutters provide the solution. In my opinion, the best motorized shutter on the market is made by Norman Window Fashions. We’ve been installing their motorized shutters for many years and the newest version is really nice. The shutters run on 6 AA batteries and the remote runs on 2 AAA batteries. They are extremely quiet and very accurate. If you look at the remote control you will see how it works. Notice how the louver position is presented. The client can choose which position they want the louvers to be in. So, here is how it works.
- Press the activation button. This is the round button on the right side of the remote control.
- Select the louver position that you want the panel or panels to go to.
- Choose the channel or panels that you want to adjust.
There are five channels that you can choose. You can add many different panels to one channel, so the programming is very flexible. There is also an all button to control every motorized shutter in radio range of the remote control. When you choose motorized shutters, you are paying for a motor in every panel. This means that you need to be careful how you configure the shutters. Multiple panels in an opening will be more expensive than fewer panels in an opening.
Pull Ring for Motorized Shutters
One other minor detail: When you use motorized shutters, the standard method of opening the panels changes. This is because their is a switch on the back of the panel to switch from remote control operation to manual operation. When the panel is is motorized configuration, moving the louvers manually can cause damage. So, the standard method of opening the panel changes. On a standard shutter, you open the louvers by hand, and then reach into the opening and grab the side of the shutter and pull the panel open. With a Norman motorized shutter, they have added a small piece of hardware that makes opening the panel easier. It is a hinged ring embedded into the face of the panel. Just pull on the ring and the panel opens. This ring is available for non motorized shutters as well for a small upcharge.
