Screen shade are available in various formats.
- Roller Shades
- Roman Shades
- Panel Track or Gliding panel systems
In this blog post we will look at the same windows in either roman shade or roller shade configurations. As you will see, the view through is similar, but there are some differences that will affect your buying choices.
What do you notice when you look at the two types of screen shades? Essentially, they both offered a filtered look to the outside. But, the roman screen shade, at top, breaks up the view with architectural lines. The roller screen shade, at bottom, provides unobstructed views. But, it lacks the character of the roman screen shade style.
Which is better? That is up to you. Here are a couple more things to consider.
The stack at the top of the window is about a foot or so with the Roman Screen Shades. The stack with the roller screen shades is only about 3 or 4 inches. In this case, the valance is 6 inches, to completely hide the roller screen shade stack.
Another consideration is cost. There is significantly more labor involved in making a roman shade than a roller shade.
When you put all of this together, you can probably decide which is a better choice for your windows. Just keep in mind that with a screen shade you will not have night time privacy. An extra layer may be necessary to make sure your neighbors don’t get a free show.
