Solar screen shades are a popular choice for homes with views. Whether in Reno or Sparks or up at Lake Tahoe, there are plenty of amazing views to be had. Kempler Design’s customers want to maximize their views but still protect their homes from the sun’s damaging rays. Solar screen shades are a great way to do that.
With openness factors ranging from 1% to about 15% you can get the look that works best for you. This client chose a 4% open screen shade. You will notice as you look at the video that with 96% of the view covered, the customer still has a completely unobstructed view.
Color Choice Matters
Here is a simple Kempler Design rule of thumb: If the sun is on the fabric, the darker the material, the better the view. The lighter colored fabrics will cause more glare. Therefore, we suggest that our Reno and Tahoe clients go with denser dark fabrics and more open light fabrics. I’ll shoot a video soon that will expand on this concept.
All the materials sourced on this job were obtained by Kempler Design through Norman Window Fashions. Known for their shutter lines, they also fabricate many other types of window treatments, including solar screen roller shades.
