If you want window coverings for doors in your home, you have quite a few options. For sliding doors, patio doors or sliders, you have fewer choices than if you have a french door, like in the video that is attached to this post. Here is the reason why. With a french door, you have the option of putting a window covering directly on the door, or completely around the door. Whereas with a sliding door, you can’t attach a blind, shade or shutter to the moving panel, you have to mount around or over the door. On sliding doors, people have often put vertical blinds, panel track systems or draperies. If you have a french door configuration, you can also add shades, blinds or shutters to the mix, as I mentioned previously.
In the attached video, we show how we chose draperies to be the window coverings for doors in this Reno home. The house was recently purchased by the homeowner and they had homogenized the coloring of the rooms. Essentially, they had created a very quiet palette of color and I suggested adding a splash of dynamic pattern and color in order to provide some excitement to an otherwise quiet area. The space is an eating nook with a beautiful view out the window. So, by adding the fabric framing and a very interesting drapery rod, they have a stunning look as they look outside or as they look from one room to another. In this case, the drapery is located squarely between the kitchen and the great room, so as they travel or look between these two rooms, they will always have a bit of wall art (The Draperies) in their field of view.
