Wood Blinds are very popular, but they have a very hard look to them. No wonder they are called “hard window coverings”. How do you soften the look? This client in Sparks, NV chose to add sheer drapes to their windows to give them the look that they wanted. In the video, you can see the difference that you get by adding a fabric edge to a hard window covering. By choosing a sheer fabric, from Kasmir Fabrics, they are able to look through the sheers which allows for a frosted or filtered view to the outside. The client is very happy with the end result.

One thing that was mentioned in the video was the corner bracket. There are many ways to put a drape in a corner, but I happen to like this one for lighter applications. The bracket is special ordered to create a perfect corner drapery rod. Another way which many people will do for a corner application is called a “Butt and Pass”. This is where one rod butts into the other rod and the original rod passes the other to the wall. You can also do a straight miter cut with regular brackets, but then if you have rings or grommets, the panel can’t pass all the way to the corner. I chose this bracket from IronArt by Orion because it fits snugly into the corner.
