Changing batteries on your Hunter Douglas window fashions is relatively easy. Watch the tutorial to see just how easy changing batteries on your blinds or shades can be.
Just a couple of things to keep in mind when changing batteries on your window coverings. The first is to be careful to control gravity. What I mean by this is that when you take off the battery pack endcap, the batteries will follow gravity and fall out if the battery pack is not level or tipped up. I had a horror story happen with this scenario a few years ago. I grabbed the pack from the window, not paying attention to the orientation of the top of the pack and the endcap fell off. (This was the old style where the cap was held on by pressure from the shade itself.) All the batteries fell out of the battery pack and directly on to a gloss-finish piano. The batteries chipped the finish and I had to arrange to repair it. Don’t let that happen to you. Be aware of the orientation. Secondly, when changing batteries, I mentioned that you should examine the batteries themselves for corrosion damage. If there is corrosion in the tube, it can affect its performance. Hunter Douglas suggests the Energizer brand of batteries due to their crush resistance.
There are ways to avoid changing batteries. The best way to do this is to wire your window coverings to power. This can be done as simply as ordering the DC power plug-in option. With cords as long as 20 feet, you can just plug the unit into an outlet and never worry about changing batteries. You can also hard wire your shades, but this requires careful consultation with a window fashions expert…like us.
